Data privacy

Your privacy is important to me and I take my professional responsibilities around data protection seriously. In line with insurance requirements, brief client records are kept for five years.

Your basic information (such as your name, contact details, and GP details) is stored securely on a GDPR-compliant platform. Records are held to support safe and ethical practice, to help prevent serious harm, and to protect me in the event of a professional claim.

Information will only be disclosed where there is a risk of serious harm or where there is a legal obligation to do so (for example, in relation to terrorism, money laundering or a court order).

Session notes are stored in accordance with UK GDPR regulations and are deleted after five years. Financial records are retained for six years in line with HMRC requirements.

Data subject access requests

You have the right to request access to personal data held about you. Requests should be made in writing. There is no charge, and information will be provided within one month.

Ethical framework

I practise in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework, which can be found at: https://www.bacp.co.uk/media/3103/bacp-ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions-2018.pdf
